An American sport

So, generally, like to think of this as not too hot, and not too cold, but then, you know, sometimes, it just is.

So, I am thinking about , in particular baseball, but of course both games and sports have many things in common, and generally there is some type of lessons involved, if simply about working in groups, and how groups can be most effective in how they work together.

Of course, I grew up at a time , when, amazingly , but truly, the great American sport/game, of baseball, was transmitted, without the need for wires at all, ( well, maybe a few wires, but not so many ), directly into your individual home.  In many ways, the meaning of this was  what is often referred to as incredible, meaning of course, beyond the limits of credibility.  But, nevertheless, it was so, although it did mainly begin in the garage, and eventually worked it's way into the -- home -- proper.

But then, for me, being quite young at this time, I viewed baseball players as something more than human.  Obviously, if they could fit inside a tiny plastic box with a window, they most have extraordinary powers. And, it did take some time for me to process that, and come to understand that I was viewing regular people at some incredible distance away.  Well, I am not sure how well I processed that, but for most of my childhood, we treasured these people in the form of small cardboard photos that we collected and perhaps occasionally shared with others, in the hope of really impressing someone.

But one take away, from baseball for me , as, I actually learned that I too was capable of playing this remarkable thing, I think, was the running to first base.  It was the hitting of the ball, and then instantly running off, not forgetting to drop the bat.  For me, that was an awful lot of things to keep in you mind, all at the same time.   Nevertheless, I did, and I have over time.  Keeping all that stuff in your head at the same time, gradually increased my enthusiasm for football, in which you had to know far less, and there was usually  someone counting or making noise so you had a better idea of what was actually going on.

So what is my point here?  Well, I just guess that, in life, in various ways, we have opportunities to learn stuff.  A lot of this stuff we do learn, can often help us , a long our way.
