A gap, mind the gap

So, lot's of gaps, and of course it means different things in different contexts , and in fact one of the so called " big guns " of the " modern " physics community , i.e. Niels Bohr, spent a could deal of his time and life traveling around discussing this exact issue, but of course today there exists >>> contemporary <<< physics , which must be better as example here: https://www.cpepphysics.org/ Anyways, there are other kinds of gaps, for example some may call fairly deep gaps , as chasms, perhaps. Now, there are places in the world where chasms exist between villages which engage in trade, and so, this requires innovation and ingenuity.  Well, for example, the radio is quite important in allowing these kinds of exchanges. And so, we get to the issue of the " wealth " gap, which by now has become a fairly large part of todays conversations, it is obviously another example of a gap.  The issues of this gap, is quite important, becau...

A Theory of World Peace

Meanwhile, back on earth, lot's of problems, issues, ect. So, recently , I believe, Dr. Penrose did propose a Theory of Reality, which I find a bit : jarring. Of course, in a world were many people are trying to avoid as much reality as possible, such a theory might provide some insight on >> what's that about ? << But if you consider, world peace as a science, well then you might suspect that there would be a theory. And surprise: https://oneearthfuture.org/theory-peace#:~:text=OEF%20believes%20that%20no%20violent,choose%20to%20engage%20in%20violence.

In Ralphie's shoes

So, the first problem you might encounter in the effort to put yourself into Ralphie's shoes, would logically be, the guy doesn't wear shoes ... like a barefoot, beat type, that you might run into from time to time.  I expect the whole thing was really, about , if I don't wear shoes, well, there is no way you can put yourself in them. But we do know somethings. Like really, born on earth, made up of all kind of interstellar wichi-ma-call-its, like stuff we don't have words for, and in so many ways, just yearning to be a " real " boy.  Sort of like Pinocchio , who ended up on a few adventures, but I don't remember exactly how that ends.  I do know a talking cricket was heavily involved with that. Meanwhile, back on earth, many people are trying to sort the situation out.  These sorting processes can often be long an tedious , like for example, when Deep Pockets is involved in inventory.  They have what you might call an over abundance of wichi-ma-call-its,...

Okay, a lump of coal on Christmas

So, if you get a lump of coal, on Christmas, well, you will probably know it. Now, going with the basic info: Sometime, between say 2:30 a,m, and 4:30 a.m. noiselessly, ( is noiselessly a thing ? ). Entered through the back door.  I am assuming now, these " guys " are somehow associated with Santa's notorious list.  Now, for me the coal thing is not so bad, but what I want to know is how I got on that list?  I mean, it seems to me, reflecting on the past, I have previously been , perhaps, a bit more naughty than what I would consider my behavior over the last 12 mos., and my recollections on that coal thing , may be a bit fuzzy, but I think, at this point, if you, like me , did get some coal, well you might seriously make some effort to get off  >>> that list <<< Meanwhile , my main wish for this Christmas , is simply that the coal receivers are in the tiny minority ???

And so, fighting and violence.

So, this starts out with a paint stained wall, in the physics building at U.M.D. sometime in late 1968 or early 1969. It was a wall with a door, and I can't say whether or not it was temporary or what might be called more permanent, but it was wood.  And so , on the wall was written in paint, " The urge to destroy is a creative urge. ".   And so, I actually have thought about that more, over time, than much of what I learned in physics  then.  And of course, I was not necessarily the brightest bulb in that barrel, because oddly, at that time there were many bright bulbs.  Nevertheless it may have a lot to do with violence and fighting.  We all know , generally, we will fight for what we believe in.  For example, if you see a spoon on the table, just. perhaps out of reach.  You might stretch for that spoon, and you might get it or not, but you are now fighting for what you believe.  Your belief is that you can reach that spoon, but ...

Cliffhangers , etc.

So, while I was pondering the issue of how long somebody can hang from a cliff, I was greeted by a squirrel staring back at me, as if he was saying, " pretty much, as long as I want ".  So, for all the squirrels out there , this cliffhanger may be concluding, too soon.  Not sure. So, to basically fill in the blanks, it looked like this story ends here. But everything might make sense, if you consider that Ralphie was aware that he was being observed by an alien presence which, clearly was not connected with Deep Pockets, or anything else he knew about.  Now, a lot of us, in this situation might just pass the data up the food chain, but knowing Altarians as well as he did , by that point, he knew that they might concoct some crazy scheme , perhaps one packed with paranoia, and he , at such a tender age was just not up for that.  And so he did kept it to himself, but he did develop what you might call -- counter measures.  So, based on the threat assessment,...

Okay, Messy Schmitt

So, Ralphie, traveling east with a passenger, 8:00 a.m. 1958, Missouri, about 55 mph, with a passenger , notices a tiny dot , to his south west, which he immediately recognizes as an alien craft, loaded with devastation, meaning of course, bad stuff. So, Ralphie has about 1.5 sec. to avert a cataclysmic disaster or perhaps worse ?  Will he survive ?   Nobody really knows at this point, however by using some deductive reasoning we can well assume so, since that was like 64 years ago, so probably somehow he did.  But how ?  That's like a real, real, cliff hanger ...

Euler and God

So, in math there are really two kinds of mathematicians, those that do have a formula named after them and those who do not.  And then there is the category of mathematicians with a theorem named after them, which is probably or possibly one step up from that, although I am not entirely sure about that. But there is a story about Euler and an atheist in which he used his formula or " identity " to conclude that God existed, and required then the atheist  disprove that. So, what we might conclude is that for Euler to see such amazing, you might say, " perfection " or " beauty " or " harmony " in nature , indicated to him, I believe, that there was something out there, that was more complex than Euler might imagine, although with 12 children , it would be a little hard to imagine, what he might imagine. Of course, everybody is not Euler. There was Gauss, and Bernoulli s and Reimann and Lie and , bunch of them really.  Many of course did have theo...

Let's do dilemmas

Well, I guess we might think in terms of, are dilemmas real things? Therefore . we require examples, like the famous cart and horse.  If you got the horse in the front of the cart, you are good to go.  If you mistakenly place the cart in front of the horse you now do have a problem, but it's a little different than a problem because you now must reverse what you did, which in my mind turns the problem into a dilemma because you really have to work it out.   Now today we see many issues, which could appropriately be referred to as dilemmas.  Most of these are certainly related to behaviors which do seem to have similarities with carts and horses.  My feelings are that many of these issues relate to what might be called " diplomacy ".  Some might assume that diplomacy just involves " good " manners, but I seriously suspect there is really more to it than that.   Of course, diplomacy is not exactly like carts and horses, yet I do believe t...

Mythological evidence

It is my opinion that, when using mythological evidence you must be extremely careful as for example, as you might be , when messing around with something as bewildering as artificial intelligence or alien intelligence which leads into the following: Now, it turns out there is a mythological story about an ancient colony, whether on a planet or some type of artificial arrangement, but there is no evidence that it actually ever existed.  Nevertheless, that mythological colony or base does reappear later in this story, but that is certainly not what this is about. What this is about, simply, is that Mars, the god/God of war/War had two sons, Phobos and Deimos, or fear/Fear and terror/Terror.  Therefore, from this information we may infer that if Mars shows up, then he's bond to have one or the other of His/his progeny involved at some level. And so what does that mean ?  Well, maybe, not a thing, or maybe, a whole bunch of things.

Rovelli and white holes

So, I watched the following video from Carlos Rovelli: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VSz-hiuW9 as it relates to , a relation between two points.  In particular, the one point, which can be considered to be unique, actually ends up to be two points, as I kind of understood his talk, that is in some ways a white hole or a black hole turn into each other.  So, in some way, you can think of it as two very distinct things which are in some ways really one. But, I guess, it is more connected to the general problem of the relationship between two points.  For example you can consider one very large point and one smaller point, and you might assume that most of what is going on comes from the large point, because it is bigger, which turns out to not always be true. And of course, you might also have a situation where it seems that everything is mostly going in one direction and very little goes back the other way.    Anyway, to encapsulate, thinking about just ...

So >>> pure <<< ethics ?

So pure ethics, is that possible, or to put that in another way, how often to we anticipate being surrounded with nothing but correct motivations ??? Kind of a hard question which reflects a lot back to culture.  This would in fact be true, because ethics is the motivation for much of our actions and activities over many generations, or centuries , or for that matter it seems to be intertwined intimately in the nature of most things we do. And so we have principals, and of course when we generally take stock, so for example " inventory ", then we often find we do not always live up to those " principals ", which sort of seem, in some ways, really beyond our reach.  And so, we begin to question things, which is important for us to do.  We do need to reflect on our actions, and attitudes, and our believes, because they are all connected back together.   And so this reflecting on our behaviors and on how our behaviors impact others is clearly an important act...

Depression and oppression

If you stop, and think about these two words, it is kind of odd, that they sound so much alike.  It does kind of indicate that there be a connection.  So, think about that connection.  Depression is kind of an internal force which, makes actions, and even thoughts sometimes very difficult.  Oppression would be pretty much the same thing, except that those forces, acting on an individual, may be considered, mostly, external.  In the more sophisticated forms of oppression, distinguishing the external and internal forces, becomes, of course much more difficult. So, what we end up with then is the actual ability to distinguish between what we might call internal and external forces.  But, if you think about it, in both cases the counter measures might in fact be, very similar and many actions that might be taken to prevent or alleviate depression, would probably also be pretty effective at eliminating some forms of  external oppression. So let's see ...

Truth and lies

There was, of course, a 1994 movie called True Lies, which of course is a somewhat unsettling thought.  But to get anywhere on the subject of truth and lies you need some really good examples.   But first, sort of in general, there is an issue of how we generally deal with this issue , sort of in daily life.  Well, if I say, " the knife is on the table " , and you look on the table, and there is no knife, well, what is that.  It could very well be a lie, or something else.  It could be a problem, for example, I was once fired from a job for leaving a pot in the sink.  And so, generally in life we don't worry about the accuracy in communication all that much, because it really depends on the situation we are actually confronting.   But, we also should know, or at least be somewhat aware, that when " lies ", become very persuasive in our societies, then the consequences do become extremely serious, as we know from a pretty clear reading i...

A brief history of what or what not ...

So , to start out, presumably, on planet Earth, some guys or girls and probably a combination, got together to discuss the issue of whether or not two lines will meet at a point or not.  Well, it could have been a very lively conversation, until the issue came up about breaking these lines down into individual points.  And when that did happen, it changed the whole conversation which has been going on pretty much to this present day.   Now, of course there were a few , fella' s in the back of the room , trying to point out, "heh guys, you know you just drew those lines ?", but really everybody had become so enamored with this idea that there are an infinite number of points on any line, that nobody really payed that much attention to those folks in the back of the room, and so, they pretty much left and did their own thing, I might again, presume. Nevertheless, there might be a moral to this story , like, always ensure people have sufficient training with offic...
