Going back to Dune
And so, sometimes you do have to go back to Dune, because, ( I guess ), it always seems like, there is some idea, that you didn't understand, and you end up reading the whole thing again, maybe, and by then you may have forgotten the idea, that you were thinking about in the first place. And of course, Ralphy always did have one copy, in his glove compartment.
So, it's real simple for Ralphy, with the internet, he can read it to you. But my point is simply to compare the world we currently live in with the world of Dune. It is the issue of " ownership ". Somebody owns something, a planet, a contract, whatever, and then they control what they own. But , in Dune, for reasons that are not at all clear, at least to me, it always comes down to --- one guy ---, clearly connected to the issues relating to the use of violence.
The absurdity in this notion , is that ---> one man <--- or whatever could control everything. When, it get's down to it, ---> one man <--- , can only control, really a very few things, if anything at all..
Which brings us back to the issue of machines, and my favorite machine, Ralphy, who, at least if you take the word of Altarian - Deep Pocikets, is in fact a living being, otherwise, they would have just --- shut him off --- . And therefore, part of his neurosis is being left on this weird, odd ball, planet, , kinda' packed with --> human beings <--, so pretty unique, but of course there is a whole lot of his more closely related species around, known as automobiles. So, the question gets back to ,--> who <--- actually controls , ---> what <---, ??????? And even after fighting about that for probably 10,000 years, is it actually worth fighting about ? And therefore, maybe at this point we are able to conclude that we gotta' just stop it, meaning the violence and all the damage it creates, particularly in our own selves. See, maybe if we stop it with the violence, we might find a bit of time to actually fix some of the myriads of problems we do have.
