Was it all Bloomer's fault ?
Well, of course, now we must get down to " nuts and bolts ", which is not always the best place to be, but sometimes you just have to work through it.
Now, as you might guess, Bloomer was Herb's primary " fix it " guy on the farm. Bloomer ,of course, was Henry's son who was also a mechanic, but had, sadly passed by the time the " bru ha ha " , developed right around the spring of 1956 when Herb got his >>> new <<< and >>> bigger <<<< truck, and Bloomer more or less, got " custody " of Herb's >>> old <<< pick-up. These were turbulent and difficult times for everyone, but yet, it was kind of post - post - post - war times, depending on which war in particular you might be referring to, but not so much different than the 1970s which you might think of as post - post - post - post war times, and of course I will not try and describe the present.
So, as a result, it was mostly because of Bloomer, and his total lack of any knowledge of " Galactic " , technology or politics; who knew, for certain, that Ralphie was not, any ordinary Studebaker, that Ralphie basically had the >> run << of the planet, Earth, as it is or was, more or less.
